Its no secret that during most of the 90’s decade Capcom and SNK were at competition with each other in terms of creating superior fighting games. While Capcom’s Street Fighter series was more popular during the 90’s and remains a mainstream attraction today SNK”s King of Fighters series along with Art of Fighting and Fatal Fury had been either dead or overshadowed. Almost 25 years ago world got to witness the release of an unexpected crossover fighting title known as SNK vs Capcom: Millennium Fight 2000. The concept of the SNK vs Capcom game appealed to many hardcore fans of the fighting genre and even casuals to some extent. Not only was the crossover game very fun but it featured a star-studded roster of both Capcom and SNK characters. Despite, not being a massive commercial success the original Capcom vs SNK title ended up being one of the best fighting titles from the year 2000. We also got to see a sequel for the Millennium Fight game known Capcom vs SNK 2 which came out during Summer 2001.

While Capcom vs SNK 2 was also an exciting arcade fighting title the recycling of sprites from older video games from the 90’s in some ways hurt the quality of the game itself. If Capcom vs SNK 3 ever happens the quality of character art would have to be modernized and look similar to that of Street Fighter 6 or The King of Fighters XV. While there has been no major online support in regards to Capcom and SNK collaborating to produce another major crossover game its something that would send shockwaves within the gaming community if announced. The biggest challenge with creating a potential Capcom vs SNK 3 game would be coming up with a compelling storyline; especially since the two crossover games from ’00-’01 did not have a campaign or story mode. The fighting genre is not nearly as popular as it was during the 90’s or even the early 2000’s and it would be difficult to make another Capcom vs SNK game appeal to the masses today. But if done correctly a potential Capcom vs SNK 3 could something that could help make the fight genre slightly more popular now than it has been in years.
