It seems like Microsoft is starting 2024 on a strong and positive note in relation to business. It has been recently reported across the web that Microsoft’s gaming revenue has increased dramatically resulting from the corporations purchase of Activision-Blizzard. The report concerning Microsoft’s massive increase in gaming revenue was revealed after the business shared its Q2 2024 earnings which show that the company’s gaming revenue had increased at 49%. The deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard had contributed in roughly over $2 billion in revenue. Despite, the massive amount of revenue that Microsoft has made from the Activision-Blizzard deal the company had its fair share of expenses including integration and transaction costs which ended up costing the tech giant around $440 million.
Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision-Blizzard gives them ownership of some of Xbox’s most popular IP’s including Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot, Diablo, World of Warcraft, Tony Hawk and Spyro the Dragon. While Microsoft’s Q2 2024 financial report is great news for the company it comes following the announcement that the tech giant laid off at least 1,900 employees. Microsoft’s most recent layoffs is due to how bad the American economy is right now along with new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 being a commercial failure on current generation game systems. Microsoft’s profits are likely to increase dramatically throughout 2024 it should also noted that the company’s stock is up by 10% compared to where it was a month ago. Hopefully, we will see more interesting developments concerning the tech giant as the year progresses.
