When it comes down to fun overlooked Capcom games there were a handful of titles from the 90’s and even the 2000’s that were decent but too many people do not know about. There were titles like Canon Spike that appeared on Sega Dreamcast back in 2000 that some people thought was fun because it was something that was different than titles that Capcom had generally produced during the early 2000’s. Cannon Spike was cerated by a now defunct video game development company called Psikyo and it was a game that had a somewhat interesting plot set in an unknown year during the 21st century. The plot revolved world being dominated by mass terrorism due to the world economy being in horrible condition. It eventually leads to the World Union of Peace creating a special force of about five or six people equipped with motor boots to fighting against terrorisms within the cities in the forms of criminals and giant robots. In Cannon Spike players have to destroy countless foes using a firearm or special moves in various stages each with a boss at the end. Playable characters in Cannon Spike included Cammy White & Charlie Nash from the Street Fighter series along with Simone, Arthur, Shiba and B.B. Hood being a hidden character. While Cannon Spike is fun the game does have its share of drawbacks which prevented it from being a better title. Since Cannon Spike is an arcade title that was ported to Dreamcast some would think that it would allow four player action opposed to only two maximum. Back in the late 90’s- early 00’s anything that allowed up to four players was almost an instant attraction in the realm of video games. It should also be noted Cannon Spike became a bit too repetitive in terms of gameplay after a while. Arcade games in general were generally repetitive back in the day but some of the best ones had high replay values such as TMNT: Turtles In Time. Beat em up arcade game were popular back in the early 90’s because the genre itself was popular for a brief time period. The multidirectional shooter genre never achieved mainstream popularity and the Dreamcast was technically a commercial failure meaning too many people did not even known the Cannon Spike game existed back in the early 2000’s or cared for that matter. Cannon Spike was a shooter game that no one really asked for and even though it was not bad the game could of been better. A remake or a sequel for Cannon Spike might never happen since the developer went out of business but it be remember as one of those Dreamcast titles that stood out because it was different.
