There is no doubt that throughout the 80’s and 90’s we got a chance to see many cool 2D games in the Super Mario series. Most of the very popular Nintendo in the Super Mario series had himself as the main character and Yoshi did not appear until Super Mario World was released in 1990. Ever since, Super Mario World Yoshi has been the main protagonist in two games afterwards during the 90’s one being Yoshi’s Island and the other being Yoshi’s Story.

When Yoshi’s Island was first released in 1995 many people were amazed by various aspects of the game such as stage design which gave the game a childlike storybook vibe. Also, the soundtrack for Yoshi’s Island was special and did a good job in getting players somewhat emotional attached to both Yoshi and Baby Mario as they progress throughout the game.

Yoshi’s Story was also a very good game due to its plot along with its 2D gameplay which utilized 3D graphics. In terms of which platform game was better overall some might be inclined to favor Yoshi’s Island over Yoshi’s Story. Yoshi’s Island has managed to sell over 4 million units worldwide since its release on the SNES. Yoshi’s Story was not quite as popular as Yoshi’s Island was but they were both memorable classics that people still love to this day.
