There is no doubt that when it comes down to shooter games in general that the Unreal Tournament along with the Halo series were both very popular back in the 00’s. While the original Unreal Tournament was addictive to many gamers back in 1999 and the early 00’s the Halo games had some of the best online multiplayer game modes ever. In terms of popularity it felt that the Halo series had eventually surpassed the Unreal Tournament especially when it came down to home based game consoles.

But at the same time some would probably argue that the original Unreal Tournament game had paved the way for various games in the Halo series to become a success throughout the 00’s. In terms of which video game series was more influential in the rise of the shooter genre of gaming is debatable among many people especially considering how popular the Halo and the UnrealTournament series was during the 00’s.
