It’s very hard to tell whether or not Super Mario Odyssey will  surpass any of the Super Mario Galaxy games in the future.   When the first Super Mario Galaxy game game was released back in 2007 it had managed to sell over 11 million units worldwide since it was first released back in 2007.  Ever since, Super Mario Galaxy 2 was released for the Nintendo Switch back in 2010 the game had managed to sell over 7 million units worldwide since its release.

Since Super Mario Odyssey is one of the main Super Mario platform games that will be featured on the Nintendo Switch it will most likely be a commercial success.  As far as Super Mario Odyssey selling more than Super Mario Galaxy there is a possibility that it could take place within a few years.  As far as Super Mario Odyssey selling more than the original Super Mario Galaxy game which hit over 11 million units worldwide its especially hard to tell if Nintendo can top that record at all.
