When it comes down to sports games from the 90’s there are many titles that comes to mind such as NBA Jam, NHL 95′-98′ along with many others.  But when it comes down to disk throwing games players did not hear about to many of them back in the 90’s or the 00’s.  One of the reasons why too many people have not heard about Windjammers back in the 90’s was because it was featured on the Neo Geo.

When it comes down to 2D gaming consoles the Neo Geo was more advanced than the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis in terms of both gameplay and graphics.  The gameplay for Windjammers seemed innovative and somewhat creative because it looked like a cross between the games of pong and air hockey.  The only downside about this game included the limited amount of characters that players were allowed to choose.  As we all know the game will be re-released soon for the PS4 and the PlayStation Vita which is something retro gamers are looking forward to.  If Windjammers was ever to be considered a hidden gem in regards to sports games its because of lack of marketing.  The lack od popularity Windjammers had could also been because it was featured on the Neo Geo which was a high quality console that was too expensive.
