The PlayStation Vita was released back in late 2011-early 2012 and since that time period Sony has been able to sell millions worldwide with this handheld device. However, in terms of sales the PlayStation Vita pales in comparison to its predecessor the PlayStation Portable which has sold over 82 million units worldwide following its released in late 2004-early 2005. Some people would say that the PlayStation Vita was a failure in comparison to the PSP but it still managed to sell at least 4 million units worldwide which is pretty decent.

One of the many reasons why the PlayStation Vita has suffered in sales so much is due to the rise of the New Nintendo 3DS along with the fact that the best selling games on this handheld device are not as popular as the PSP. For the PSP we had great games such as Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition, Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Freedom Wars and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. For the PlayStation Vita we did get some cool games such asAssassins Creed III: Liberation, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Call of Duty Black Ops Declassified. However, we never got to see Grand Theft Auto V for the PlayStation Vita.

In fact there are so many games that were very popular for the PS4 that were never ported to the PlayStation Vita. When it comes down to whether or not the PlayStation Vita was a success or not many would agree that it could have done better if Sony decide to make it a top priority. However, as many people know Sony has invested more time into promoting the PlayStation VR since it many be the next big thing within the gaming industry.
