Neon White- Most underrated First Person Shooter of 2022?

There is no doubt that 2022 is one of most wild yet interesting gaming years that we have ever had. Despite, having a lack of high profile video game releases in 2022 we got to see various interesting indie titles from that year. Arguably, the biggest first person shooter game to have emerged from ’22 was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 along with Overwatch 2 which was a disaster during its launch. Aside from those two first person shooter titles one of few first person shooter titles to have come out of ’22 that received great reviews was Neon White. For those who do not know Neon White was published by Annapurna Interactive and developed by Angel Matrix was pretty unique considering the fact that it was a first person shooter parkour game. Neon White also had an intriguing plot that involved players controlling a demon slayer in order to purge Heaven of Demonic forces within ten days. Throughout, each level players could acquire Soul Cards in order to utilize special abilities to help them complete whatever stage they were one. While the use of Soul Cards was a cool feature the downside was players could not transfer them over from level to level. One of the most unique things about Neon White was the game’s art design mainly because felt somewhat similar to that Gravity Rush and the gameplay looked like Mirror’s Edge but with weapons. When down to video games in general parkour is something that is mostly uncommon in relation to modern day gaming probably with the exception of Dying Light 2: Stay Human. Neon White looks like it has the potential to develop into a video game series opposed to just a one off standalone title. Neon White may not have been the best first person shooter game of ’22 but definitely shined in a year that was considered to be underwhelming for the most part.
