One of the most anticipated racing games of this year Forza Horizon 5 is set to be released on November 9th for Xbox One X, Xbox One along with Microsoft Windows. Forza Horizon 5 will be developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios and with her the 12th overall installment within its series. In terms of competition in relation to the racing genre it seems like the Forza series had the advertisement over Sony’s Gran Turismo series. In fact, Forza Horizon 4 from 2018 managed to reach at least 10 million copies in sales; surpassing the Gran Turismo Sport for the PlayStation 4 which only reached roughly around 8 million in overall sales. While Forza Horizon 5 looks appealing with a fictional open world environment resembling that of Mexico; the weather system and mini-multiplayer games in Forza Horizon 5 adds more excitement in this current generation racing title. However, there is a good chance that Forza Horizon 5 commercial success can be overshadowed by the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 7 in early 2022. While Gran Turismo Sport was a great racing title by its own right gaming world has been waiting to see GTA7 since 2013. While the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 7 is unlikely to have a negative effect on the success of Forza Horizon 5 throughout 2022; it could possibly to better in sales since more people worldwide own PS4’s than they do the Xbox One. Also, the PS5 has already reached at least 11 million in sales since its release back in November 2020. Its going to be interesting to see the sales numbers between Forza Horizon 5 and Gran Turismo 7 before the end of 2022.
