Will there ever be a Final Fight IV?

As many people know the Final Fight series is considered to be legendary as far as the 2D beat em up genre of gaming is considered. Back in the early 90’s the Final Fight series competed with the likes of Street of Rage, TMNT: Turtles in Time, Battletoads and Double Dragon in relation to the beat em up genre of gaming. The last time that Capcom released a game within Final Fight series was back in 1995. While the very first Final Fight game received an arcade release the second and third game were SNES exclusives. Ever since, Final Fight 3 Capcom released a direct sequel for the game entitled Final Fight: Streetwise for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox back in 2006. Final Fight: Streetwise was not well received by fans or critics and the world has not seen a major game within the series since then.

In fact, there are many people who want to pretend that Final Fight: Streetwise never happened and would prefer to see a 2D successor to Final Fight 3. After all, we are getting a new Battletoads game along with a Streets of Rage IV in the near future. Seeing another Final Fight title would be something that would shock many people especially retro gamers within the gaming world. However, there has been no talk about Nintendo making another Final Fight game in future and it seems like the company currently lacks interest in reviving the series.
