WWF Raw- 30 Years Later

WWF Raw from ’94 might be one of the most forgotten pro wresting games from the 90’s due to how much the landscape of gaming has changed. WWF Raw the video game came out 30 years ago on the SNES, Sega Genesis, 32X along with Game Boy. WWF Raw the video game came out about a year after the television show premiered during 1993. The game came out towards the start of WWE’s New Generation Era and featured some of the hottest names within business during the mid 90’s including The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Diesel, Razor Ramon, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Yokozuna and more. WWF Raw had sharp 2D graphics and the game itself was more technical opposed to games like WWF WrestleFest or WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game. The WWF Raw video game was also more challenging than the arcade based pro wrestling games of the 90’s. WWF Raw did not have the same level of popularity or success as other titles from the 90’s like WCW vs nWo: World Tour or WCW/nWo Revenge.

The New Generation Era was considered to be a low point business wise for WWE back in the 90’s and WWF Raw came out during a time period where the company was seemingly struggling ratings wise. WWF Raw looks like one of those games that could have shined towards the tale end of the Golden Era ’91-’92; especially since WWE had more big stars in the company during that time period. Despite, not having a massive roster WWF Raw had a variety of different match types including 1-1, Tag-Team, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series along with Endurance. WWF Raw may not have been the best pro wrestling game from the 90’s but you can tell that Acclaim Entertainment but some effort into making it seem somewhat realistic. Its hard to believe that the Monday Night Raw television show is still running 30 years later after the game was released. Monday Night Raw is one of the most recognizable pro wrestling television shows in history and the WWF Raw video game is considered to be legendary by hardcore WWE fans.
