Retro Gaming 00’s- WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006

When it comes down to classic pro wrestling video games from the 2000’s one of the greatest titles to have emerged from that decade is WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006. WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006 was a Yuke’s creation that was published by THQ and was released for the PlayStation 2 back in 2005. WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006 was the successor to the original SvR title from ’04 and more realistic in terms of gameplay compared to its predecessor. WWE Smackdown vs Raw is considered to be legendary because it was the game that introduced General Manager Mode. The General Manager mode gave players the opportunity to run either Raw or Smackdown while building their show with some of the best Superstars in WWE. WWE SvR 2006 was also the first pro wrestling game to featured a Buried Alive Match and it also brought back the Casket Match which was something that was also a big attraction within the game. Create-a-Entrance was also something that added live to the creation suite in WWE SvR 2006 because players had more creative input on their custom wrestlers appearance before matches.

Create-a-Entrance allowed players to edit the lightening, music and camera angles of their custom superstar before matches which was amazing. WWE SvR 2006 also had one of the best Season Modes that you would in any pro wrestling game from the 2000’s. The Season Mode lasted one year and players got different storylines depending on what superstar they choose along with the decisions they made. Also, the voice-over acting was top notch and the quality was better than what we got in the original SvR game from 2004. WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006 had featured some of the biggest names in the pro wrestling industry at the time including Triple H, The Undertaker, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Batista, Rey Mysterio and many others. WWE SvR 2006 also featured legendary characters like, Hulk Hogan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock, Bret Hart, Roddy Piper and others who had to be unlocked within the game. Players also had the ability to compete for various titles in Exhibition Mode including WWE, World, IC, United States, Tag-Team, Cruiserweight and the Women’s championships which is something players could not do in the original SvR game or Day of Reckoning 1 or 2. WWE SvR 2006 was quite possibly the only game from the 2000’s that was almost every bit as good as WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain from 2003. WWE SvR 2006 is a timeless classic that is better than most pro wrestling titles produced by 2K Games during the 2010’s decade. WWE SvR 2006 hardly had any glitches and graphics somehow looks better than most of the WWE 2K games from the 2010’s.
