Should Nintendo make more 2D Zelda titles?

We are currently waiting for the highly anticipated release of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and as of right now many people are anxious to own the game when it comes out for the Nintendo NX in 2017.  However, when most retro gamers think about the history involving the Legend of Zelda series they think about some of the classics such as the Adventure of Link and “Link to the Past”from the late 80’s and the early 90’s.  The Zelda series as a whole started off in 2D and has become very popular ever since before making its transition into 3D with the release of “Ocrana of Time” for the Nintendo 64.  While many people loved both Zelda: Ocarina of time and Majora’s Mask the 2D titles such as “Link to the Past along with “Link’s Awakening” were both special.  Some people would probably prefer the older 16 bit graphics and gameplay that was popular in the early 90’s.

When we look at most of the Zelda games in terms of sales many know that “Twilight Princess” which was released for the Nintendo Wii in 2006 was probably the best selling game in the series even though it was in 3D.   Even though some people would enjoy the creation of a new 2D Zelda title most of 3D games that Nintendo have made were also amazing as well.  Since the release of Zelda: Twilight Princess some people would be inclined to agree that it would not make to much sense for Nintendo to go backwards and start releasing 2D titles.  Even though, the release of 2D Zelda games would appeal to retro gamers of the 16 bit era some might argue that the series is going in the right direction with the advancement of high quality 3D graphics and realistic gameplay.  However, Nintendo were to make another 2D Zelda game for the New Nintendo 3DS XL with gameplay and graphics which was similar to that of the 16 bit era it probably be a dream come true for anyone who is a true fan of the series.
